If it’s not one thing, it’s another.

 Our phone lines don’t seem to be working properly. People have dropped by and said that, “the phone just rings once and then goes straight to static”.  I’ve been here the entire time, and our phone hasn’t even rung a single time. So, I hope to have everything repaired by tomorrow- that’s when Telus gets here.

Just some early pieces of terrain we were working on:

Part cactus/ part Ork statue, the piece of terrain was built out of some hardboard, pink styrofoam, and some plastic aquarium plants. I carved and sanded the styrofoam until it kinda looked “Orky”, then painted it black with a grey drybrush. Hot glued the horns and the eyebrows to the statue, then hot glued the statue and the plants to the hardboard. Easy-peasy!

 Very similar process as above, but Pierre had a very distinct vision in mind- rather than go Ork, he decided to have fun with his design and made an idol sticking it’s tongue out!

*Star Wars Miniatures: The people have spoken: “We want to play larger point armies!” And, consequently, we’ve listened! Get ready for 200 point Star Wars Minis armies EVERY Sunday in March at 1 PM!

*WarHammer 40K: We’re on track and working our way towards ‘Ard Boyz in May 2010! March 7, 14, and 21st at 1 PM we’ll host 500 point armies! On Sunday, March 28 at 1 PM, get ready for 1000 point armies! Please read our WarHammer 40K event rules!

*HeroClix: Every Saturday in March we play at 1 PM: 600 points, 500 points, 400 points, and 300 points respectively.

*D&D Encounters: Starts this Wednesday, March 17! Time: tba. E-mail me if you’re interested!

*New Boardgame: John M. is working on his own brand-spanking new boardgame and he needs feedback! Demonstration day and time is tba, but a watchful eye out!

What’s the best way to while away the hours on a quiet Sunday afternoon? WARHAMMER 40K!

Our 500 point event starts at 1 PM and don’t forget to bring:

*RULEBOOK AND CODEX

*4 COPIES OF YOUR ARMY LIST!

1. Format:

*OPEN LIST: Please Provide One Army List To The Judge And Then To Your Opponent Before Yoiu play Each Round

*3 Rounds Of Swiss-Style Play

*Each Round Is Best Of One (Single Game) And 50 Minutes Long.

*$5 To Enter 

2. Army Construction Rules:

*500 Point Armies Or Less: Each Army Must Have at least 1 HQ + 2 Troop Units

*All Figures Must Be Assembled

*For Now, It’ll Be Okay If Your Army Isn’t Completely Painted- This Rule Will Change In The Future

*Please No Proxy Figures!

*Any Armor, Weapon, And Upgrades Must Be MOdelled On The Miniatures (WYSIWYG)

*Conversions Will Be Allowed, But The Majority Of The Figure Must Be Made From Games Workshop/Citadel Components

*Forge World Figures Will Be Accepted And Can Only Be Used To Represent Figures From Existing Codex Lists, But We Will Not be Using Forge World Rules

We need terrain!

 After weeks of me putting together what I can, I’ve decided to enlist some help: namely, YOU!

So, we’re hosting our first-ever Terrain Building Contest and here are the rules:

TERRAIN BUILDING CONTEST:

1. RESTRICTIONS:
*NO PROFANITY (NO SWEARING)
*NO BLOOD OR GORE
*NO NUDITY
*NO ORGANIC MATTER (NOTHING THAT WILL ROT)
*NO MOTORS OR ANYTHING THAT REQUIRES BATTERIES OR GENERATES HEAT
*MAXIMUM SIZE: 7 INCHES X 7 INCHES X 7 INCHES
ANYTHING LARGER WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED

2.5 UPDATE: THERE WILL BE A “SCRAPS” BOX MADE AVAILABLE TO ALL ENTRANTS. IT’S LOCATED ON THE YELLOW SHELF BESIDE THE FRONT ENTRANCE. IT WILL BE CLEARLY MARKED AS “SCRAPS”. HELP YOURSELF TO ONE ITEM PER DAY AT NO CHARGE.

2. ALL ENTRIES BECOME THE PROPERTY OF THUNDERGROUND COMICS- THE REASON WHY WE’RE DOING THIS CONTEST IS TO GET MORE TERRAIN TO USE IN OUR EVENTS

3. WINNER WILL BE DETERMINED BY A VOTE. EACH PERSON IS ALLOWED ONE VOTE PER DAY AND CAN VOTE EACH AND EVERY DAY IF HE/SHE SO CHOOSES. ANYONE CAN VOTE SO BRING YOUR FRIENDS!
*VOTING STARTS: TUESDAY, MARCH 16, 2010 AT NOON
*VOTING CLOSES: SATURDAY, MARCH 27, 2010 AT 6 PM

4. ALL VOTES WILL BE TABULATED ON SUNDAY, MARCH 28, 2010 AT 3 PM AT OUR WARHAMMER 40K EVENT.

It never ceases to amaze me how popular Magic: The Gathering is.

Just this past holiday season, we’ve seen an influx of new players and now those former n00bs are ready to kick some butt!

Be there on Saturday, Feb 27 at 1 PM- Register Early!

1. Format:

*3 Rounds Of Swiss-Style Play (“Swiss” = everyone is guaranteed to play at least 3 games, it isn’t an “Elimination” format)

*Each Round Is 50 Minutes Long And Best 2 Out Of 3 (If The Time Limit Is Reached, 5 Additionaly Turns Will Be Given, Starting With The Active Player. If There Is No Clear Winner At The End Of The 5 Additional Turns, The Game Will End As Undecided)

*Players May Only Use Cards From Magic 2010, Zendikar, and WorldWake

*Minimum Deck Size Is 60 Cards With A 4 Card Limit

*Players Are Permitted To Access A Sideboard Of 15 Cards Inbetween Games

*No Charge To Play- It’s FREE!

2. Prizes:
*1st Place= 1 Booster Pack Of “Worldwake”

*Random Draw = 1 Booster Pack Of “Worldwake”

*Best Sportsman = 1 Booster Pack Of “Worldwake”

3. Etiquette:

*If you have a question, please raise your hand- do not shout or yell, there are other players trying to concentrate and play their game which would be pretty hard to do if people are shouting.

*I will ask and record results at the end of the round- which means I will come to you and ask for your result. Please do not shout or yell your result (see above), please do not tell me the result when I’m in the bathroom or on the phone or talking to another player- unlike Superman, I can only do one thing at a time.

“Hammer Of Thor” has breathed new life into HeroClix, the superhero miniatures game formerly made by Wizkids Games- now produced by NECA Games! We had a problem locating more product- a testament to the strength and popularity of the game, but forutnately for us, Morgan still had a case of 10 boosters that he’s willing to use for our sealed booster event!

Yay, Thanks, Morgan!

Also, take a look at the Thor at the top of this posting- it was created by Morgan using an experienced Thor and bits and pieces from 7 other HeroClix figures for the lightning and smoke effects! Nice work, Morgan!
