Here we are mere hours away from our event and… no event kit.

 Very sorry all, but I am going to cancel our Warmachine / Hordes Steamroller event that would’ve taken place on Saturday, March 26, 2011. I know it is bad form to cancel an event only one day before it’s supposed to happen, but I don’t have a choice. My apologies to everyone.

On tap for Saturday, March 26, 2011 will be a “dry run” or Steamroller-test (again, not an actual Steamroller, but a test of it) event. I will host a 35 point tournament- and everyone is welcome to come and play.

Please keep an eye out for our next Shattered Grounds: ThunderCliff Peak league (starting April 23) and our Steamroller event (May 28?).

“Mirrodin Besieged” Game Day is this Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 1 PM, people!

 This time around WOTC has sent us some truly incredible prizes! To start with, Top 8 players each receive one extended art DCI foil “Black Sun Zenith”! And the first 30 entrants each get an alternate art “Treasure Mage“! What’s even better is WOTC is supporting their faction deck theme from the previous Game Day (“Scars Of Mirrodin”) where players could choose to support either the Mirrans or the Phyrexians in their struggle for the world. When you choose a faction, you must have at least 10 cards with the appropriate watermark (shown in the game text) and none of the opposing watermark. For example, if you wanted to make a Phyrexian faction deck, you’d have to have at least 10 cards with the Phyrexian symbol ()in their game text and none of your cards may have the Mirran symbol (). And viceversa if you wanted to play Mirran. Keep in mind, faction decks are OPTIONAL- you don;t have to have a faction deck in order to play- it’s just more fun if you do =)

No, these aren’t professional paint jobs from GW’s elite.

They’re painted by a local player named Garnett G!

What makes them look so cool?

Aside from the awesome paint-job, Tau figures have rounded edges (no harsh lines) in their design. Most notably, their drones and crisis suits (pictured below) are made up of circles and ovals (oblong shapes). Very easy on the eyes!

Then there’s how they play. I’ve played against other Tau players, Zac B for instance, and I was never able to get even close with my Orks. The Tau faction is really good at shooting their opponents’ heads off (among other body parts). They’re a very interesting faction to play and play against.

If you’re curious about Warhammer 40k and would like to try out the game or paint a fig- then please come by any Sunday that we have an event (except this upcoming May 8, 2011).

2500 points of Warhammer 40K is a lot.

It’s also the point format that we will be hosting this year for ‘Ard Boyz 40K (Games Workshop‘s equivalent of “Worlds“)! Consequently, we’ve been hosting 2500 points on the last week of each month as a prep for ‘Ard Boyz 40K.

What a day!

So glad everyone could make it out especially with all this snow.

Let’s finish off “Shatterred Grounds: Windless Wastes” with a BANG! Our FINALE is this Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 1 PM to 6 PM! During the previous 3 meetings, players would get to play with a single special ability granted to them depeding on which place they were fighting at. However at the FINALE, players will be using ALL of these abilities!

Neil put together a very interesting dea for another league! Basically, it’s a league format that would help new players get into the game- with each passing meeting, players would be able to slowly add points to their armies. So, everyone starts out very small (15 pts) and gradually adds more and more points. If you’re interested in playing, then please drop me a line!

With Magic, Warmachine, Warhammer, and D&D, I completely forgot about White Lantern Sinestro!

The good people at Wizkids have posted their Brick Redemption for DC75th Anniversary and it is amazing! Luke actually just got his earlier in the week and I am going to be sending away for mine tomorrow!

If anyone here needs help filling out the forms or a receipt, I am here for you! Drop by and if it’s not too busy I can walk you through the process- it’s actually pretty painless!

One of the best things about Sundays is the opportunity to see everyone’s painted models!

Today was incredible! Sam had his Blood Angels, Mitchell brought some Chaos Space Marines, Ron was using his Black Templar, Matt played his Dark Eldar, Garnett came with his Tau, and Albert was rocking Orks!

As a part of our “Shattered Grounds: Windless Wastes” league (2 more meetings left, Saturday Feb 26 and March 5!), we’ve decided to host a Warmachine Figure Painting Contest and so far we’ve received two entries! Mark (Cygnar: Thunderhead, pictured above) and Neil (Mercenary: Jonas Murdoch, pictured below) have put their best up to be judged by the greatest group of Warmachine players ever!
