Just got a call from my Sales Rep and more “Magic 2010” is on the way! If shipping goes well, we could have more by Wednesday, Sept 9; just in time for our draft! Woohoo!

So, depending on how many boosters I can get my hands on: I will hopefully have product to sell as a box, prize allocations should be in for everyone that’s been waiting, and I just might be able to open some up to have some new singles! Yes!

How do you top “Magic 2010” and “From The Vault: Exiled“?

With “Planechase“, that’s how!

Our Launch Party starts at 6 PM and will be a Multiplayer – Sealed Deck event. Meaning we will be playing this event in groups of 3-5 players at the same table and we will be using the “Planechase” decks (obviously).  Everyone playing in our “Planechase” event will receive one “Tazeem” Planar card! Yay!

There are 4 “Planechase” starters available: “Zombie Empire“, Strike Force“, “Metallic Dreams“,  and “Elemental Thunder“! In each deck you get: one 60 card theme deck (with 8 rares!), one 10 card “Planar Deck” with which players may not look at or rearrange, and one 6-sided “Planar Dice“! The “Planar Dice” has 4 blank sides, 1 side with a “Chaos” symbol which looks like a sideways “S“, and a “Planeswalker” symbol which looks like a 5-pronged fork!

Whoever goes first flips over the top card of their “Planar Deck” and puts that card into the “Command Zone” (which is different and separate from the Battlefield- so then cards from players’ decks cannot destroy or otherwise affect Planar cards)! There are 2 abilities on each Planar Card: the ability that is listed first is essentially “always on” and then the ability that is listed second may trigger whenever a Planar Dice rolls a Chaos symbol. Keep in mind that the controller of a Planar Card is the player who’s turn it is.

There’s no real fair way to distribute these things, people.

Our “From The Vault: Exiled” have arrived- again, I’m very gratefu for whatever quantity that we were able to receive, but it still wasn’t enough for everyone here. So, how do we decide who gets one?

The only way I can come up with is this: if you’ve made your purchases (Booster Box) here and played in our Booster Draft events, then I’ll have one of these giftsets for you. I’m not going to make this item a “first come- first served” thing because that would just be a disservice to everyone who went out their way to buy from me.

So, I have a list with everyone that I could save a FTV:E for here at the store and I’ll start contacting them today.

Sorry in advance to those who are looking for this , but I don’t have enough for the people here. =(

Finally!

 Our “Magic 2010” restock has arrived- mind you we were allocated (didn’t get our full order), but I’m grateful for whatever we could get- more would be better, but sometimes things don’t work out quite how we like.

 So, I have prize packs for those who played in our July Booster Drafts and M2010 League winners! Also, thanks to Niels S and Travis T for lending me packs last week!

 Unfortunately, the “Magic”-gods have not smiled on me =(

We will not be able to host a FNM Booster Draft on Friday, August 21, 2009. With everyone’s cooperation, I’d like to change that event to a Constructed/Type 2 event. We will still award four DCI foil “Lightning Greaves” to 1st, 2nd and 2 random players.

Hopefully, our restock will arrive soon, but I can’t get a straight answer from either WOTC or my distribution channel.

Just a heads up: our “Ravnica” Block draft planned for Saturday, Aug 22 has been changed to a “Mirroden” Block draft. The reason being is that we had to use our RAV stuff in a draft last Wednesday when our 2010 ran out.

You can sign up instore- there’s room for six more people (as of Tuesday, August 18).

Thanks to everyone that came out and play in our Magic 2010 League! Special thanks to Sam for thinking up this great format- sealed fatpack is amazing!

At our first meeting, we decided on the following prize distribution for our awards:

*Most Game Wins: 15% Of Prize Pool

*Most Games Played (Not Necessarily Wins): 15% Of Prize Pool

*Most Trades Completed: 15% Of Prize Pool

*Most Separate Decks Built: 15% Of Prize Pool

*Best Sportsman: 30% Of Prize Pool

*Random: 10% Of Prize Pool

As you can see, our prize distribution strongly favors “The Best Sportsman” award; which is in my personal opinion, the most important out of all of the above awards. Right from the beginning, Sam said to me he wanted this League to fun and he wanted people to have access to a larger pool of cards without spending too much money on it. And I think we were able to fulfill those to prerequisites byt allowing people to trade with other League players and placing a very high value on sportsmanship. Say if a person decides to cheat and wins all of his games, that person will only win one award out of six. It’ not great, but at the same time not horrible.

At the moment, there are 24 people signed up for the League, so there are 24 packs of Magic 2010 in the Prize Pool!

 Everyone loves a BBQ!

Saturday, July 11, 2009 we’ll be hosting a free BBQ for all of our M2010 players! Work up an appetite playing with the new Magic cards and stay for the food! Don’t worry, we won’t be serving up Luke or any form of Tauntaun, just good, old-fashioned hotdogs!

 The BBQ should start around 3 or 4 PM depending on how busy it is.
